This glacially paced supernatural drama is the story of three people who have all been touched by death in different ways. Marie is a French journalist who nearly dies after being swept away in a tsunami while on vacation. Marcus, a London schoolboy loses his twin brother in a tragic accident. The last is George, an American who gained the psychic ability to connect with the dead after nearly dying from fever as a child. Each tries to cope with life as it has been changed for them. George, fed up with being alone due to his ability freaking people out, takes a trip to London to get away. The three are drawn together in a series of coincidences that result in life changing events. Clint Eastwood, who did a fine job of creating the melancholy overtone of the film, directed the film. The tsunami footage is spectacular and Marcus’ near miss of a subway bomb is quite shocking. A good tale, but at two and a half hours, it certainly took it’s time getting there. Worth watching, but save it for a cold rainy night when you have a cup of hot chocolate, a tub of buttery popcorn and nothing but time to kill.
