The new generation of the BMW M5 is finally here and we can see it drifting in the commercial or even accelerating on the Nurburgring. But its future American customers will have to settle for the promotional video for now because the 2012 M5 will be available in the US starting from spring 2012 and the German automaker didn’t announce its prices yet.
As a reminder, the new generation of the BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4 liter V8 engine which is delivering 560 horsepower between 5.000 and 6.000 rpm, with a peak of 502 lb-ft of torque available from 1.500 rpm. The V8 comes with M TwinPower Turbo and it’s mated to a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission Drivelogic with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The 0 to 62 mph acceleration takes just 4.4 seconds while the 0 to 124 mph takes 13 seconds. The new M5 can hit a top speed of 155 mph or 190 mph with the M Driver’s Package.
