Rides : Current Land Rover Defender to stay in production until 2017

Here’s a kicker – the current Land Rover Defender range will likely remain in production until 2017 or later. However, that doesn’t mean that we won’t see a new Defender. The all-new Defender, based on the DC100 Concept shown at Frankfurt in September, will arrive in 2015 but the current model will stay in production.
“There are a number of changes to the legislation that mean we can keep the current Defender in production longer than we thought,” a Land Rover insider said.

Refresher: The Land Rover DC100 Concept and the DC100 Sport Concept are powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder diesel engine with hybrid compatibility. The engine is mated to an 8speed transmission with Intelligent Stop / Star and Intelligent four-wheel drive with torque vectoring and Driveline Disconnect.
