The daughter of two girls considered herself to be an ugly duckling; she was (and is) a sports junkie, the class clown, and a tomboy who did not like wearing dresses until she was 17. Then she moved to New York, discovered a flair for fashion, and found an outlet for her love of music by becoming a member of an all girls rock band there.
