The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is finally here and while Ford Motor Company is celebrating its day by launching some of its own models ahead of their official 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show debut, General Motors is placing its favorite muscle car into the spotlights once again by announcing its starting price which has been set at 54.995 USD.
“From the original Camaro to the current Corvette ZR1, Chevrolet has a long history of delivering world-class cars that outperformed competitors at several times the price. The ZL1 is no exception. There are very few cars at any price that can match the power, features and track-capability of the Camaro ZL1”, said the Global Chevrolet Marketing VP, Chris Perry. The “new” Chevrolet Camaro is powered by the LSA 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine which is developing a total output of 580 horsepower and has a peak torque of 556 lb-ft, sending power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 0 to 60 mph acceleration time in the “new” Camaro ZL1 takes 4.0 seconds and the top speed is 180 mph for the manual transmission version, while the automatic transmission equipped variant can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 184 mph.
Chevrolet says that the 2012 Camaro ZL1 comes with some interesting standard features, such as heated, powered-adjustable front seats, nine-speaker Boston Acoustics audio system, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and a rear-park assist with rear-view camera.
