Rides : Viper ACR reigns as fastest production car at the Nürburgring

[Video] Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR Sets New Nurburgring Lap Record

Dodge has released video footage of the 600-hp 2010 Viper ACR lapping the Nürburgring in 7 minutes, 12 seconds on Sept. 15.
The Viper ACR’s 2008 record lap time (7:22) had been eclipsed earlier this summer by a 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, at 7:19. Soon after that, the Lexus LFA came in at 7:17.6.
So the ACR is now officially the fastest production car round the Nürburgring . Lexus might argue that the ACR is no longer in production as such, but at the end of the day they have to accept the fact that they lost the battle and the not-so-sophisticated, low quality, American car built by a couple of fat men is faster than their high-tech, exquisite, carbon fiber supercar.
“We’re extremely proud to set the lap record for a second time at the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife,” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO – SRT Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC. “Our team returned to Germany knowing we’d left some time on the track when we set our first lap record, so this effort shows the incredible depth and capability the Viper ACR has by running a full 10 seconds faster than we did in 2008.”
The street-legal Viper ACR is factory-equipped and tuned for outstanding track performance with coil-over racing dampers that are adjustable for both damping and ride height. The shocks are two-way factory adjustable without removing the wheels - a timesaver at any track configuration - and they include a large range for compression and rebound adjustment. Aerodynamics are also adjustable via carbon-fiber rear wing with seven-position stanchions and an adjustable front splitter.
